That Time That I Got Reincarnated as Slime

That Time That I Got Reincarnated as Slime

By Fuse 176 pages Young Adult

Danny Says

This is actually the 24th in a Manga series. As players of Monster Hunter and Dungeons & Dragons know, the slime is not exactly the king of the fantasy monsters. So, when a 37-year-old Tokyo salaryman dies and wakes up in a world of elves and magic, he's a little disappointed to find he's become a blind, boneless slime monster. I get a kick out of these books, and I know a lot of reluctant teen readers who devour them.

A Monster Calls

By Patrick Ness 224 pages Young Adult

Danny Says

The monster in Conor’s backyard is not the one he’s been expecting – the one from the nightmare he’s had every night since his mother started her treatments. This monster is ancient. And wild. And it wants something from Conor. Something terrible and dangerous. It wants the truth. From the final idea of award-winning author Siobhan Dowd – whose premature death from cancer prevented her from writing it herself – Ness spins a haunting and darkly funny novel of mischief, loss and monsters – both real and imagined.
